TabTree
The Founders' Grove

Every project is a tree. Here are twenty.

TabTree reads the shape of a project and grows the tree that fits it. The species says where the work rests, the season whether it is moving, the fruit what is done, the birds who carries it. Before you plant yours, walk through these twenty.

Made by the TabTree team, not by members. Ten are famous projects rebuilt from public history, ten are everyday projects we wrote. Every tree was grown by the app itself: we wrote the plan, TabTree chose the species. Members' trees start further down, with the monthly contest.

Reconstruction1887 – 1889

The Eiffel Tower in 26 months

🌳 Oak · ☀️ Summer · 14/14 done · 2 birds

Eighteen thousand pieces drawn to a tenth of a millimetre, riveted in the air, finished on time for the World's Fair. A steady oak: balanced branches, a fruit on every one.

Why this tree: Balanced branches, steady work: an oak.

ShowcaseSprint 3

A product launch, run with Claude

🎋 Bamboo · ☀️ Summer · 4/9 done · 7 birds · 4 paper birds (Claude)

Humans and agents on the same tree. The paper birds are Claude's cards; the round birds are the team's. Two sprints closed, the third one on track.

Why this tree: 2 sprints closed: agile, fast growth.

Reconstruction2019 – 2024

Notre-Dame, rebuilt in five years

🌳 Oak · ☀️ Summer · 11/11 done

After the fire, a promise: five years. Oaks were chosen in French forests to rebuild the roof — so of course this one is an oak.

Why this tree: Balanced branches, steady work: an oak.

ShowcaseSix weeks late

Rebuild our website

🌿 Willow · 🍂 Autumn · 2/11 done · 3 birds

Half the open work is overdue, so the tree bends and turns to autumn. Nobody wrote a status report: the willow says it for them.

Why this tree: 6 of 9 open tasks are overdue: the project bends.

Reconstruction1869 – 1883

The Brooklyn Bridge

🌳 Oak · ☀️ Summer · 12/12 done · 3 birds

When the chief engineer fell ill, his wife carried his instructions to the site for eleven years. The tree remembers who held each branch.

Why this tree: Balanced branches, steady work: an oak.

ShowcaseStarted this autumn

A well for a village in the Atlas

🫒 Olive · 🌸 Spring · 2/19 done · 3 birds

Fifteen steps, a whole year, a village that has carried water uphill for generations. Barely started — an olive tree, slow and patient, and worth it.

Why this tree: 19 tasks, 11 % done: a slow, patient yield.

Reconstruction1927

New York to Paris, alone

🌴 Palm · ☀️ Summer · 5/5 done · 1 bird

Sixty-six days to build a plane, thirty-three hours in the air, no radio. The smallest tree here — and every fruit is ripe.

Why this tree: Small and 100 % done: it shoots up fast.

ShowcasePaused until spring

Our school vegetable garden

🌴 Palm · ❄️ Winter · 6/9 done · 1 bird

Planted in March, harvested in June, asleep since the frost. A small palm, nearly done — and in winter, because every open task is paused until spring. Winter is not death: it is waiting.

Why this tree: Small and 67 % done: it shoots up fast.

Reconstruction1961 – 1969

Apollo 11 — a man on the Moon

🌲 Cedar · ☀️ Summer · 37/37 done · 4 birds

Eight years, four hundred thousand people, one deadline set by a speech. Every layer of this cedar is a system inside a system — and every fruit is a test that passed.

Why this tree: 4 levels deep: a strategy in layers.

ShowcaseAutumn 2026

Launch our podcast

🌴 Palm · ☀️ Summer · 6/8 done · 4 birds

A name, a microphone, three episodes in the can. Small, nearly done, growing fast: a palm.

Why this tree: Small and 75 % done: it shoots up fast.

Reconstruction1904 – 1914

The Panama Canal

🌳 Baobab · ☀️ Summer · 18/18 done

A continent cut in two. Three huge branches — the cut, the dam, the locks — carry almost all the work, the way a baobab's trunk carries its whole crown.

Why this tree: Three branches carry 79 % of the work: everything rests on them.

ShowcaseSprint 4

Ship our indie game

🎋 Bamboo · ☀️ Summer · 4/11 done · 2 birds

Three sprints closed, the fourth one running. Tight, regular, fast: the bamboo of the grove.

Why this tree: 3 sprints closed: agile, fast growth.

Reconstruction1450 – 1455

The Gutenberg Bible

🌴 Palm · ☀️ Summer · 7/8 done · 1 bird

Movable type, an oil-based ink and a wine press: three ideas, one book, about 180 copies. Eight tasks, seven done — the palm of the collection.

Why this tree: Small and 88 % done: it shoots up fast.

ShowcaseOpening in January

Open a neighbourhood bakery

🌳 Baobab · ☀️ Summer · 6/17 done · 4 birds

The oven, the permits and the kitchen carry almost everything; the sign and the logo are twigs. A baobab tells the owner where the weight really sits.

Why this tree: Three branches carry 78 % of the work: everything rests on them.

Reconstruction1751 – 1772

The Encyclopédie, volume by volume

🌲 Fir · ☀️ Summer · 24/24 done · 12 birds

Twenty-one years, seventeen volumes of text, the whole knowledge of an age. A fir: one tier per volume, stacked straight up the trunk.

Why this tree: 13 cards hang straight off the trunk: a backlog.

ShowcaseRace in April

My first marathon, 16 weeks

🌲 Fir · ☀️ Summer · 5/16 done

Sixteen weeks stacked one on top of the other, like the tiers of a fir. Five done, eleven to go.

Why this tree: 16 cards hang straight off the trunk: a backlog.

Reconstruction1804 – 1806

Lewis & Clark, across a continent

🌲 Cedar · ☀️ Summer · 13/13 done · 2 birds

Two years, eight thousand miles, a map drawn as they walked. Deep branches inside branches: every river had its portage, every portage its plan.

Why this tree: 4 levels deep: a strategy in layers.

ShowcaseYear three of four

Finish my PhD thesis

🌲 Cedar · ☀️ Summer · 10/16 done · 2 birds

Chapters inside parts inside a question. A cedar grows in layers — like a thesis that finally finds its structure.

Why this tree: 4 levels deep: a strategy in layers.

Reconstruction1896

The first Olympic marathon

🌴 Palm · ☀️ Summer · 6/7 done · 1 bird

A route from Marathon to Athens, seventeen runners, one water carrier on a donkey. Small and almost all done — a palm shoots up fast.

Why this tree: Small and 86 % done: it shoots up fast.

ShowcaseJune 2027

Our wedding in June

🌳 Oak · ☀️ Summer · 6/13 done · 4 birds

Two families, one date, a hundred small decisions. Balanced branches, steady progress: an oak — the tree people plant for the long run.

Why this tree: Balanced branches, steady work: an oak.

How to read a tree

Nobody writes a status. The tree says it.

Everything you see is computed from the plan itself: cards, dates, owners, what is done. Move a card and the tree changes.

🌳

The species

Where the work rests. A baobab leans on three huge branches, a cedar grows in layers, a fir is a backlog, a willow bends under overdue tasks.

🍂

The season

Whether it moves. Spring just started, summer is growing, autumn has too much overdue, winter is waiting.

🍊

The fruit

A ripe fruit is a task done. A small green one is a task in progress.

🐦

The birds

Who carries a task: one round bird per person. A paper bird is Claude, an AI agent working on the card.

🪹

The empty nest

A branch with work and nobody on it. Tap it in the app to take it, or give it to Claude.

🌱

The roots

Why the project exists and what could kill it. The bigger the risk, the thicker the root.

The most beautiful tree

Members' trees, this month.

Every month, each member can enter the tree of one real project. The picture has no words in it — no names, no tasks, nothing private — and members vote. This gallery is live.
